NICK Pope and Maxwel Cornet were both in action as England beat the Ivory Coast 3-0 in a friendly at Wembley.

Ollie Watkins opened the scoring from close range before Serge Aurier was shown a second yellow card five minutes before the break.

Raheem Sterling added a second before Tyrone Mings wrapped up the result in the third minute of stoppage time.

Pope kept a clean sheet on his first international appearance since a 2-1 win against Poland just under a year ago.

The Burnley goalkeeper has now conceded just one goal in eight appearances for his country since making his debut back in 2018.

Cornet managed just over an hour, initially playing on the left flank before dropping to a deeper role after Aurier was sent off.

But England had lots of the ball and the visitors struggled to carve out chances in the final third, particularly after going down to 10 men.

Meanwhile, Wayne Hennessey earned his 100th Wales cap in a 1-1 draw with the Czech Republic in Cardiff.

The goalkeeper captained the side, while Burnley team-mate Connor Roberts was an unused substitute.

Elsewhere, Nathan Collins made his first start for the Republic of Ireland, who recorded a 1-0 victory against Lithuania.

And Wout Weghorst was an unused substitute as the Netherlands held Germany to a 1-1 draw at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
