ROBBIE Blake and Ade Akinbiyi were on target again for the second successive game as Burnley went into half-time two-up against struggling Scunthorpe United.
Blake put the Clarets in front with an excellent low strike across the goalkeeper in the 10th minute, after James O'Connor's cross from the byeline was only half cleared.
Akinbiyi had the simplest of tasks to double their lead just after the half-hour, finding himself totally unmarked to head in Wade Elliott's cross from close range.
Scunthorpe were largely restricted to long-range chances, from which new signing Grant McCann struck the base of the left-hand post, shortly after Brian Jensen had saved his 25-yard free kick.
Blake was unlucky not to make it 3-0 moments before the break, but his long-range free kick went just wide of the left hand post.
