BURNLEY will be looking to bounce back from Tuesday night’s defeat against Leicester when they welcome Chelsea to Turf Moor.
The Clarets suffered a 2-0 loss against the Foxes, with James Maddison and Jamie Vardy on target in the final 10 minutes.
Team news
Ben Mee is rated “touch and go” after being forced off with a knee injury during the first half against Leicester.
Erik Pieters and Johann Berg Gudmundsson remain sidelined, while Matej Vydra and Dale Stephens are nearing a return to training.
As for the visitors, Cesar Azpilicueta and Hakim Ziyech are both doubts while Ben Chilwell is set for a lengthy spell out of action.
Opposition lowdown
Chelsea are currently third in the Premier League table, having lost just three league matches all season.
Thomas Tuchel’s men recorded a 3-2 win at Luton in the FA Cup on Wednesday night, with Saul Niguez, Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku getting on the scoresheet.
Burnley have faced Chelsea 103 times in their history, with a record of 37 wins, 26 draws and 40 defeats.
The Blues ran out 3-0 winners when the sides last met at Turf Moor back in October 2020 thanks to goals from Hakim Ziyech, Kurt Zouma and Timo Werner.
Last meeting
The points were shared when the sides met earlier this season following a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.
The hosts took the lead through Kai Havertz, who headed home after getting on the end of Reece James’ cross during the first half.
But Vydra slotted home from close range 11 minutes from time to ensure the Clarets would return to Lancashire with a point.
