BACK-up goalkeeper Jason Brown is on the verge of agreeing a new three-and-a-half-year contract with Blackburn Rovers.
The Welsh international, who joined Rovers on a free transfer from Gillingham at the start of last season, has made only one appearance during his first 18 months at the club.
However, manager Mark Hughes considers the 25-year-old an able deputy to Brad Friedel, and he is keen to secure his services on a longer contract.
Earlier this week, Zurab Khizanishvili committed his future to the club by putting pen to paper on a contract that ties him to Rovers until the summer of 2011.
The Georgian international said: "I'm really happy I can enjoy another three years.
"The deal is signed, everyone is happy, and I'm looking forward to more good years with Blackburn.
"It's fantastic when you get a new offer because it means you are an important member of the team.
"It means the manager trusts me and wants to keep me in the team, so that is good."
