Paul Gallagher may stay at Blackburn Rovers after the transfer window closes despite renewed interest from Preston North End, according to Rovers chairman John Williams.
North End boss Alan Irvine is keen to have Gallagher, who spent three months on loan with the Championship side this season, back at Deepdale saying: "I've left a message on Mark's (Hughes) answer phone but he hasn't got back to me yet.
"Paul's got quality and we would like him back, so that's something I'll continue to pursue."
But Mr Williams said: "It's a decision for the manager.
"Mark has always admired Paul and if he feels he has a role to play then he'll stay with us and that could happen.
"But, if not, Paul could go back out on loan. we'll just have to wait and see."
