BLACKBURN manager Mark Hughes insists he is not panicking over the lack of transfer activity at Ewood Park.
With just 13 days to go before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month, Hughes has yet to add any new faces to his squad, despite making a number of enquiries about potential targets.
However, the Rovers chief appears relaxed about the situation, and he has told fans to expect some activity nearer to deadline day.
"We've made enquiries about a number of players, some of whom have already moved on during the window," admitted the Rovers boss.
FROM BACK PAGE "However, we've realised very quickly at what level those deals are going to be concluded at, and we are not able to compete, so sometimes you just have to step away.
"But we've still got a number of targets that we are actively pursuing and, hopefully, something will be resolved quite quickly, although I wouldn't say anything will happen in the next week or so.
"We have certain types of players that we want to bring in to the club, because we believe that will help us in the second half of the season, so if we can do a little bit of business then we'll be happy.
"But it's not a case of being desperate because the window is closing in a number of days.
"We've done some of our business right up to the cut-off point in previous windows, so it's not getting frenetic; we are looking at key targets that we can bring into the club and if they fall by the wayside then, obviously, we will look at things again.
"But, right now, we are quite comfortable with the situation we are in."
Hughes remains interested in the Wigan midfielder Jason Koumas, although the transfer fee could be a stumbling block, but he has played down talk of a move for the former Newcastle midfielder Amdy Faye, who is pushing for a trial.
He added: "People are maybe a little bit ahead of themselves by saying we are going to sign him straight away, and he's going straight in the team. That's not the case.
"We were just asked whether or not we would be prepared to look at him for a couple of days, because I think people know that's what we like to do.
"We agreed he could come in for a couple of days and that's as far as it went. People, maybe agents or whatever, have tried to make more out of it, but that's where we are with it at the moment."
