FORMER Blackburn winger Simon Ireland is back on the staff at Rovers - 14 years after he left the club to sign for Mansfield Town.
Ireland, who was signed from Huddersfield Town by Kenny Dalglish in 1992, has been appointed as the club's Assistant Academy Director, with responsibility for the Under 9s to Under 12s age group.
Head of the Academy, Bobby Downes, said: "I'm delighted to get Simon in.
"He's a bright lad and he's obviously got a connection with the club."
