Midfielder Amdy Faye's chances of securing a loan move to Blackburn Rovers could be scuppered by red tape.
The former Portsmouth and Newcastle enforcer, who is currently on loan at Rangers, was hoping to spend a few days on trial at Brockhall, with a view to securing a move until the end of the season.
However, a FIFA rule, which prevents a player from appearing for more than two clubs in any one season, means the prospect of a deal is unlikely.
Faye has already played for both Charlton Athletic, who still hold his registration, and Rangers this season.
So the player would have to launch an appeal through the Football Association, and then ultimately FIFA, to get the rule over-turned before he could join another club in the January window.
