THE visitors dominated this game with no reward.
A free kick, a penalty, and a freak deflection from the Bacup keeper in the final minutes of the game handed Formby the points in a game where Bacup had 95 per cent possession from start to finish.
Just 12 minutes into the game John Borg gave away a needless free-kick some 25 yards out.
The ball was knocked to Paul Jones whose shot hit a divot and flew into the net.
On 25 minutes Bacup got a deserved equaliser when Davey Luker who went round the keeper before shooting into the net.
But five minutes before half-time Stuart Shepherd made a clumsy challenge on Formby's Paul Lamb, which resulted in the referee awarding a penalty which was duly converted.
Bacup took the game to Formby in the second half but several attacks came to nothing due to Hartley and Herbert constantly being caught offside.
And as the visitors pushed for an equaliser they were caught on the break, when Lambe grabbed a third for Formby.
Manager Brent Peters said: "It was a catastrophy that we came away from this game with nothing, and it's a bitter pill to swallow."
