Rovers will have only two senior players away on international duty during the upcoming break.

Leighton Clarkson was named in the England Under-20s squad yesterday, but there was no place for Tyrhys Dolan despite talk of the Rovers attacker receiving his first call-up.

Thomas Kaminski also missed out on selection as Roberto Martinez named his 24-man squad to contest the Nations League finals, with the Rovers No.1 not among the four goalkeepers that were selected.

Ben Brereton will join up with the Chile squad next week ahead of games with Peru (October 8) and Paraguay (October 11) before returning to Rovers to begin his period of quarantine after a resolution was reached that will see him miss the game against Venezuela (October 15).

A similar agreement had been struck with Namibia over Ryan Nyambe for their double-header with Senegal, only for the 23-year-old to withdraw from the squad after sustaining concussion in the defeat at Huddersfield Town.

That leaves Brereton and Clarkson as the only two players away on international duty during the break, meaning Rovers will keep the majority of their squad together ahead of the visit of Coventry City on October 16.

Tyrhys Dolan had been tipped to receive an England Under-20s call-up, but missed out on the 23-man squad for matches against Italy (October 7) and Czech Republic (October 11).

Darragh Lenihan’s hopes of a return to the Republic of Ireland squad were also ended by a thigh injury that ruled him out of the defeat at Huddersfield Town, and also likely tomorrow’s game at Blackpool.
