BLACKBURN Hawks will be looking to build on a sensational win against Whitley Warriors when they get back to ice hockey action this weekend.

Hawks, who beat the Northern League table-toppers on their own ice, entertain Solway Sharks tonight (face-off 5.45pm).

"It's a massive game," said general manager Konrad Tapp.

"Last weekend was fantastic as we became the first-ever senior Blackburn team to beat Whitley Warriors on their own rink.

"With the game played for double points, it was a welcome boost, and the fact that we only had a very small bench made it an even greater achievement.

"With most of the squad available this weekend, there is no reason why we cannot repeat that performance."

Dusan Kubik has recovered from a bout of flu, but there are still injuries affecting Lance Derbyshire (knee) and Mark Arnone (wrist).

On paper, tomorrow night's English Cup match at Kingston should be slightly easier.

"Although we have never lost to them down the years, Kingston have a young and eager team which has forced some surprise victories. We will have to be on our guard," added Tapp.
