Nicolas Anelka won't face Blackburn Rovers on Sunday after completing a £15 million deal to Chelsea. The transfer, which appeared to have stalled after Bolton rejected an initial bid of £11m, was finally agreed when Chelsea's revised offer was accepted.

The formalities were completed in time for 28-year-old Anelka to play for his new club in tomorrow's London derby against Spurs.

"Whenever I've seen Anelka, he's always been excellent," said Rovers manager Mark Hughes.

"People had doubts he would do it at Bolton but he worked exceptionally hard for the team, and he was a big part of what they try to do.

"The fact he won't be playing benefits us."
