VINCE Overson has told his young team to use the senior side as an example when Burnley host Arsenal tonight in the FA Youth Cup.

But the club's head of youth development has challenged them to go one better and book their place in the fourth round of the competition.

The Clarets' first team earned rave reviews for their battling performance against Arsene Wenger's Premier League stars, despite a 2-0 defeat last Sunday.

And Overson revealed he's told his young charges to produce a similar display, while keeping his fingers crossed for an even better result.

He said: "The lads will enjoy it and we want the players to do just that; not freeze because of who they are playing against.

"They have to express themselves because it is a great stage to show everybody the potential we have.

"At the end of the day, I just want the players to do themselves justice and then, just like the first team did against Arsenal, we can come away with our heads held high.

"This time, hopefully, we can produce a shock as well."

The young Clarets have reached the fifth round of this competition in the previous two seasons, but face a tough challenge if they are to progress past their Arsenal counterparts, who are coached by Steve Bound, under head of youth development, Liam Brady.

However, Overson said there would be no inferiority complex when the teams line up tonight at the Fraser Eagle Stadium.

He said: "Their lads are at a great club in Arsenal and you don't go there unless you are a top player.

"We respect that, but that is the only respect they are going to get."
