Ronan Curtis has put Championship clubs on alert by telling Portsmouth he’s ready to leave.

The winger says clubs have enquired about his services and he wants to take the opportunity to test himself in the second tier.

The Republic of Ireland international has scored 42 times in his three years at Fratton Park, but after their failure to win promotion from League One, he is keen to move.

Rovers have long-term interest in the 25-year-old, but with a £2million valuation on his head, any possible move would need to be funded by the departure of talisman Adam Armstrong.

The club are yet to add to their squad this summer, but are in need of reinforcements before the Championship season kicks off on August 7.

Speaking to the Portsmouth News, Curtis said: “I want to test myself in the Championship, (manager) Danny (Cowley) knows that, everyone knows that.

“It’s the right moment and the right time, we’ve been speaking and the transfer window is still alive until the end of August. We’ll see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

“There have been a couple of clubs who have rung up about me already, I don’t have to lie about that.

“I will sit here and tell you straight to your face that clubs have been ringing Danny and Pompey.

“If anything comes then it comes. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t.”

Rovers first looked at Curtis in the January window of 2019/20 but were priced out of a move, with the 25-year-old then signing a contract extension at Fratton Park which still has two years left to run.

Curtis has held candid talks with Cowley whose side missed out on a play-off spot on the final day of last season.

He insists his focus isn’t being affected by talk over his future, but added: “Danny and myself have spoken, I have spoken to the board, it’s simple enough, it’s just about the right price.

“I am stuck in the middle, it’s about the clubs now.”
