SHEFFIELD Wednesday manager Brian Laws has insisted he is not disappointed he wasn't given the chance to speak to Burnley when they were searching for Steve Cotterill's replacement.
The Owls received an official approach just over a month ago to hold talks with Laws, who began his football career at Turf Moor, but were quick to knock Burnley back.
"I'm not disappointed because it shows the club wanted me to be here," said the 46-year-old Wednesday boss.
"When people believe in what you're doing it makes your job easier."
Now, Laws is looking to add to the Clarets home form woes when the two teams go head to head this afternoon (kick-off 3pm).
"It will always be an interesting game to me because I started my career there," he said.
"But that was then, Sheffield Wednesday is now.
"That's the most important thing, and I want to beat Burnley on Boxing Day.
"Owen Coyle has inherited a good squad with quality players, and they started off ever so well, but they are struggling at home.
"A lot of teams in the Championship seem to be, like West Brom, Watford and ourselves.
"Burnley haven't won for four home games. They will be nervy; it's a good time to play them.
