ACCRINGTON Stanley will face Fleetwood Town in the final of Clitheroe FC’s Festival of Football.
A young Stanley team beat Clitheroe 2-1 in their final group game to book a place in Saturday’s final of the eight-team tournament.
Both sides went in to the game with a chance of reaching the final but goals from Tom Scully and Dylan Moonan secured victory as the Reds topped Group One.
Stockport County ended up as runners-up after beating Rimington 7-2.
Fleetwood finish top of Group Two thanks to a 4-0 win over Hurst Green while Marine took second place thanks to a 3-0 win over Barnoldswick.
The final will take place at Shawbridge on Saturday (3pm).
Meanwhile, former Stanley defender Jerome Fitzgerald has joined Clitheroe as first-team coach.
Fitzgerald, whose playing career also took in spells with Altrincham, Southport, Guiseley, Stalybridge Celtic, Chorley, Rossendale United and Darwen, has an extensive scouting background and was also previously assistant manager at Nelson.
The 42-year-old will operate along with manager David Lynch, assistant-manager Chris Holland and current first-team and strength and conditioning coach Louis Mayers.
“He’s a serial winner. He’s won multiple promotions in non-league football,” Lynch told the club website. “I spoke to him last season and got an inkling he was keen to come in. I’ve invited him in and I think he’s the right character to complement what we’ve already got.
“You need experience and Jerome has got that and I think he will help Louis, Chris and myself.”
