Burnley's appeal against Joey Gudjonsson's red card against Preston North End was turned down by a Football Association Disciplinary Commission on Tuesday.
And the player has been hit by an extra one-game ban because the panel deemed the appeal 'frivolous'.
He will miss four games - against Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol City and the New Year's Day trip to Blackpool.
