BOXING coach Yaqoob Hussain admitted he was as pleased as punch after seeing his young fighters shine at a recent boxing tournament.
Yaqoob, head coach and founder of Audley Amateur Boxing Club, took a team of fighters to the Mayor of Hyndburn's Charity Boxing Gala which was held at Accrington Town Hall.
Seven fighters made the short trip to Accrington and returned with a record of four wins and three defeats.
Young Ibrahim Shah maintained his impressive record when the 12-year-old beat J Flattery from Newbury and Farnworth on points to take his tally to three wins out of four.
Thomas McBride, aged 13, also turned in a winning performance with a points victory over J Bowman from Carlisle.
Bilal Shah, the uncle of Ibrahim, made it two wins out of two when the 18-year-old won his senior contest on points against Manchester fighter Peel Williams.
And there was also a points win for 15-year-old Haider Riaz.
However their were defeats on points for 15-year-old Anthony Preston who lost to Wade Barrick from Newbury and Farnworth and Ibrah Hussain who lost to J Seabright from Hyde.
And K Ward from Darnhill proved to be just too good for Ibrar M Hussain when the 12-year-old was overpowered and stopped in his first ever contest.
