BURNLEY'S miserable home run continues after Preston earned their first away win since April against nine-man Clarets.
Kyle Lafferty got Burnley off to a good start with an excellent looping header on 31 minutes, after having a 90th second penalty appeal turned down, even though his goalbound effort appeared to be handled on the line by Matthew Hill.
Chris Sedgwick put Preston level on the stroke of half-time from Neil Mellor's delivery.
The striker got among the goals himself nine minutes into the second half after bursting past the defence. Gabor Kiraly did his best to narrow the angle but the former Liverpool striker finished well into the bottom right corner.
Chris McCann got the Clarets back on level terms just after the hour mark after latching onto Robbie Blake's clever backheel.
But the midfielder was sent off for a lunge on Sean St Ledger two minutes later, and Simon Whaley fired in a 83rd-minute winner to help Preston make use of their numerical advantage.
Burnley ended the game with nine men when half-time substitute Joey Gudjonsson was dismissed in the aftermath of a melee in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
