OWEN Coyle has urged his rampant Clarets side to keep their foot on the accelerator as they look to gun down rock-bottom QPR tonight.
Burnley will soar to fourth in the Championship if they beat the struggling Londoners at Turf Moor and capitalise on a magnificent run of form on the road that has seen them stun high-flying Watford, Charlton and Wolves.
Despite the club's impressive sequence of results, Coyle insists talk of a push for promotion is too premature at this stage of the season.
But the Clarets boss is desperate to build on the foundations laid over the past fortnight and, in the process, grab his first home victory as Clarets manager.
"What's behind us is behind us. We're concentrating on a big, big game for us, and if we win, it pushes us up the table again," said Coyle "That's all we can do, look to go and win, and come the end of the season, see where that takes us.
"There's an awful lot of football to be played. There's some quality sides in the Championship - big, big clubs, but we will continue to do our best for Burnley.
"I believe you always want to move up from the position you are in. You certainly don't want to move down, but we just want to go out and try and win the next game."
Queens Park Rangers may be rooted to the foot of the Championship, with just three league victories to their name this season, but Coyle insists Burnley will not be taking tonight's opponents lightly.
He added: "I would agree that Queens Park Rangers are in a false position, but we will give them the respect they are due because they have some very good players.
"But we will look to concentrate on what we can bring to the game, get our creative players on the ball and try to create opportunities and defend together.
"But let's be positive and try and go and win the game.
"I think the supporters have seen we're trying to do the right things.
"Mistakes will be made, and I've said to the players that if they make mistakes, to try to be positive and not have negative thoughts because you were trying to do something positive to help the team.
"We'll continue to be positive, and the supporters have been behind the team since I've been here, and long may that continue."
Burnley's impressive run of results on the road - against three of the division's top clubs - has prompted talk of a serious promotion bid in the FROM BACK PAGE second half of the season.
But Coyle has warned that the Clarets must stay consistent to maintain any chance of success.
He said: "People might look and say On their day, Burnley are a decent side', and it will be natural for people to say that.
"What we have to make sure is that we are on our day more often than not.
"If we play to the levels we've set, we'll win games. We won't win them all, but we'll win games playing to that level."
