Tony Mowbray will have his three most senior central defenders available together for the first time this season – but says who plays is ‘pretty straightforward’ in his mind.
Darragh Lenihan returns from suspension for the visit of Norwich City after Rovers failed in their bid to overturn the red card the Irishman was shown at Brentford.
That saw the 26-year-old miss out at Bristol City where Derrick Williams made a timely return to fitness to partner Daniel Ayala after five weeks out with a quadricep injury.
Tomorrow’s game will be the first time this season that Mowbray has had Lenihan, Ayala and Williams fit and available at the same time, with all three having had disrupted season’s so far.
Mowbray confirmed that Lenihan will start, with the manager, who has discussed the prospect of playing a back three previously, says his team selection, at least in the heart of the defence, is one he’s already made.
“It’s pretty straightforward in my mind what we do,” Mowbray explained.
“Darragh is a leader and a big personality in our group and we would have preferred to have not played without him on Wednesday night which is why we appealed the decision and I don’t think there’s any question that he will be back playing.”
On who plays alongside him, Mowbray said: “It’s pretty straightforward for me because of the recovery situation, players who have been out for a fairly long time and the intensity and amount of games.
“All of those things are decisions that you make, you sit down and explain them to the players and what your thought patterns are and they get on with it, that’s their job.
“It’s pretty clear for me.”
Rovers have no new injury concerns for the visit of the Canaries, but no player will be fit enough to return for tomorrow's game.
Midfielder Tom Trybull will drop out of the squad however as he is unable to feature against his parent club.
