Mark Hughes said he was disappointed with the level of Rovers' performance as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham yesterday.
Dean Ashton's 53rd minute strike consigned Rovers to a fourth league defeat of the season, and their second in three matches.
The Rovers chief said: "I haven't really had an issue with our performances in the other games that we've lost but, in fairness, today was probably the first time where our performance level wasn't anywhere near the level it needed to be, certainly in the first half when we didn't really create anything.
"I think we have to understand that teams come here now and recognise the threat we pose and try to do something about it.
"West Ham's gameplan worked extremely well and they've got good power and pace in forward areas and their counterattacking against us worked well for them.
"I made a change at the start of the second half, we switched to 4-4-2 and tried to press higher up the pitch, and we started to get a little bit more success as a consequence.
"But then we disappointed ourselves again by conceding a poor goal from our point of view.
"There were too many individual mistakes leading up to the goal, and consecutive errors will always cost you."
To make matters worse, Andre Ooijer also picked up an injury in the closing stages, after Hughes had used all of his substitutes, which meant Rovers had to play the final 12 minutes with 10-men.
Hughes added: "I haven't had a proper update as yet. At the time I thought it was his hamstring but it may be his calf."
