A CLITHEROE FC footballer caught out almost twice the limit told a court he knew he had been foolish.
Student and part-time window cleaner Gary Stopforth, 21, gave a breath test showing 67 micro-grammes of alcohol in 100 mililitres of breath, Burnley magistrates heard.
The legal limit is 35 Magistrates were told the defendant was seen parked by the side of the road by police in the early hours in Burnley. He told officers he had had three pints.
Stopforth, of Burnley Road, Briercliffe, admitted drink driving.
He was fined £100, with £60 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
He was also banned for 16 months. He had no previous convictions.
Stopforth told the bench he knew he had been foolish and he would never do it again.
He said he was taking a foundation degree in sports coaching.
