SENSEI Sarah Taylor has successfully defended her kick boxing title at the WAKO Yorkshire Open in Sheffield.
Taylor, a member of Karate Kickboxing Intense Defence System in Rishton, defeated fellow KKIDS member Marabel Vergara from Rotherham to retain her title in the ladies black belt semi contact points section.
However, hopes of individual double gold were scuppered as Vergara exacted her revenge in the ladies black belt light continuous section and had to settle for third place overall.
But there was more joy for the Taylor and she joined forces with Vergara and fellow KKIDS Rotherham member, Nicole Bruce, to win the ladies three person team event.
Blue belt Mikey Worswick, from KKIDS Rishton, defeated numerous opponents in the boys 13-16-year-old light continuous section to progress through to the final.
In the final, he came up against fellow KKIDS member Lewis O'Gara from Huddersfield but the 15-year-old narrowly lost on a split decision.
Dexter Dickenson, also from Rishton competed in the Yorkshire Open and ever member of the team received coaching skills on the day from Sensei Alan Taylor (second Dan Karate and Kickboxing) from KKIDS Rishtons.
