BURNLEY are set to make Dale Stephens their first outfield signing of the summer, after agreeing a deal with the Brighton midfielder.
The 31-year-old, who has been a long-term target for the Clarets, will undergo a medical today ahead of tonight's Carabao Cup third round tie with Millwall.
Stephens, who is cup tied after playing in Brighton's second round win over Portsmouth, is believed to be costing an initial £1million, with the potential to rise to £2.5m with add-ons over the course of a two-year deal.
It is four years since Burnley first registered their interest in the Bolton-born midfielder, having a total of six offers turned down in the summer of 2016.
If all goes to plan, Stephens - who is in the last year of his contract at the Amex Stadium - could make his debut in the Clarets' first home game of the new Premier League season, against Southampton, on Saturday.
