Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes has urged the next England coach to give Stephen Warnock his chance in the problem left-back spot.
Hughes believes Warnock should be under consideration for England duty by whoever succeeds Steve McClaren when competition resumes in March.
Hughes has been delighted by the 25-year-old's impact at Ewood Park since his £1.5million move from Liverpool in January and is mystified why he has been ignored by England.
"Stephen has done very well since he's been at the club," Hughes said.
"He was involved in an international squad when he was a Liverpool player.
"But for whatever reasons, he hasn't been involved when he's been playing for Blackburn, even though he's been great for us.
"He's a good English left back and whoever gets the England job should have a look at him."
