BLACKBURN Rovers strikers McCarthy and Matt Derbyshire are both hoping to be fit to face Aston Villa tomorrow.
The pair were due to take part in a full training session at Brockhall today and, providing they come through the workout unscathed, they could be included in Mark Hughes' plans tomorrow evening.
McCarthy sustained a nasty gash to his leg as a result of a challenge from Fulham's Dejan Stefanovic during the early stages of Rovers' 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage. on Sunday.
Hughes initially rated the South African doubtful' for the Villa game, but the injury has since responded to treatment and the Rovers boss is now hopeful his leading scorer will make it.
Derbyshire is also pushing for a recall after recovering from a thigh problem, meaning Hughes could have a selection headache up front with Jason Roberts and Roque Santa Cruz, who was rested at the weekend, also available.
Midfielder David Dunn is also back in the squad after serving a one-match ban for his sending off against Manchester United.
