Stephen Lowe column: This Saturday's result away at Hereford was Stanley's first 0-0 draw since April 2005 and I must admit that it made for a happy weekend in the Lowe household.

I had, you see, become uncharacteristically pessimistic about the trip to the land of the Archers.

The Bulls are having a great season and with the away win at Leeds in the FA Cup last week, coupled with the fact we have never won at Edger Street, you can see why I was a tad despondent.

There was, however, one fact I had overlooked away from home this season. We have produced some cracking defensive displays on the road and scored some cracking goals.

My faith is now restored but I have a long wait until the Rochdale game to see if the away form can start to be replicated at home.

All the talk this week in the press has been about who will be the new England manager.

Our very own John Coleman has been suggested with more than a little tongue in cheek by several national press pundits.

The joke appears to be more about the Accrington Stanley manager taking on the England job than about the record of John himself. How many other league managers have taken their current club through three promotions?

With each promotion a complete new challenge presenting itself to John (and Jimmy Bell) - taking the club full- time, keeping the best players at Stanley now they are in the national shop window and, of course, most bewilderingly coping with dwindling crowd numbers!

There is talk of ex-England players with no managerial experience being in the possible list of candidates and some current Premier League managers who have never won a domestic league or cup competition.

How crazy would that be!

Back in the real world, we need to keep John at Stanley and get Jose Mourinho for England.
