RIBBLESDALE League T20 Cup holders Salesbury are through to the quarter finals after a narrow win at Oswaldtwistle Immanuel.
The hosts won the toss and elected to field and Salesbury posted a total of 135-6, mainly thanks to Peter Richardson 34 and Max Wyn-Jones 34.
In reply openers, Oliver Clare (25) and Francis Kinsella (31) added 40 for the first wicket. Ossie were in the game throughout with Phil Howard making 25 and Kurt Smithson 16.
However they fell just eight runs short ending on 127-9. There were two wickets each for Liam Parkinson, Callum Boardman and Max Wyn-Jones.
Last year’s runners-up Earby lost at league champions Settle.
Settle won the toss and elected to bat and suffered an early blow when they lost Tom Davidson in the second over.
All of their batsman struggled to get on top of the bowling so Settle were grateful to a seventh wicket partnership between Simon Tarbox (16) and Ben Hulse(11) to get them up to a score of 91 on what was a difficult wicket.
Earby lost Adam Hodge in the first over which brought together Jake Greenbank and Joseph Robinson. They added the highest stand of the day of 41, Greenbank making 18 and Robinson 25.
They were in a position to challenge the Settle however the host’s bowlers did not allow Earby to accelerate. Will Davidson took 2-15, Tom Davidson and Ben Hulse both took 3-5 to bowl Earby out for 68.
Read are in to the last eight after victory at Whalley who batted first and were all out for 74 with Jack Wood taking a remarkable six wickets.
In reply, Read found themselves at 43-5 but managed to get over the line with a couple of overs to spare.
At Cherry Tree, Ribblesdale Wanderers restricted their hosts to 78-8 in their 20 overs, David Steinson doing most of the damage with 3 wickets.
Wanderers wasted no time in getting the required runs getting home by 10 wickets in less than eight overs thanks to unbeaten knocks from Andrew Needham (33) and Eddie Steinson (37).
The four will join Barnoldswick, Brinscall, Padiham and Feniscowles, who all had byes, in the quarter finals.
The draw is: Barnoldswick v Settle, Brinscall v Salesbury, Read v Padiham, Ribblesdale Wanderers v Feniscowles
