Tosin Adarabioyo has thanked Rovers for the experience and lessons he’s learned during a season-long stay at Ewood Park.
The central defender will now return to parent club Manchester City, where he has another year left to run on his contract, bidding to earn a place in Pep Guardiola’s side for next season.
The 22-year-old impressed across his 35 appearances after his August switch, sitting out the final two matches of the season with a tight hamstring, and to allow Academy graduate Hayden Carter some valuable match experience alongside Darragh Lenihan.
The defender’s ability to pick a pass from central defence was a key facet of Rovers’ play, while he chipped in with three goals, in victories against Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton and Bristol City.
His spell at Rovers was the second of his career, after spending the 2018/19 campaign with West Bromwich Albion who missed out on the play-offs, playing once more than he did during his Ewood Park stay.
Adarabioyo has made eight appearances for City, and has ambitions to make it at the highest level, but is still waiting to make his Premier League debut, with his last appearance coming in a Champions League defeat to Basel in March 2018.
Writing on social media, he said: “After a joyful season, my time at Rovers has come to an end.
“I’ve had the best experience and lessons on the pitch, in my whole career so far.
“I’d just like to thank the gaffer, my teammates, the backroom staff and every single fan who’s supported me this season!
“I wish you all the best in the future!”
Tony Mowbray says Rovers would relish the opportunity to take Adarabioyo next season, but with finances ruling out a permanent move, and another loan off the table for now, that appears unlikely.
