A YOUNG-LOOKING Colne turned in one of their best performances of the campaign to destroy Abbey Hey.
The visitors lined up with three strikers - Kevin Langley, Kevin Urwin and Liam Garbutt - and the system worked a treat.
From the start, Colne tore into Abbey Hey and gave the home defence a torrid time, and that set the tone for the rest of the game.
Abbey Hey had their moments, but were always second best.
Colne took the lead after six minutes when Ted Crockett latched onto a corner, cut in, and shot into the bottom corner from close range.
The home side upped their game, but were unable to make progress against a strong Colne defence.
Colne were making all the pressing, with Michael Cruz and Urwin heading over, while Andy Haworth also blazed over.
But Urwin was on target to head Colne's second.
Five minutes before the break, Michael Rosser scored the goal of the game with a spectacular over-head kick which left the Abbey Hey goalkeeper with no chance.
Colne continued to create chances after the break.
Urwin went close when a cross-cum-shot just whistle past the upright, while Steve Hall had another effort cleared off the line.
But the visitors capped a great all-round performance with a fourth goal in the 89th minute.
This time it was Urwin getting his name on the scoresheet with a cool finish.
