Corry Evans is expected to sit out Rovers’ final two matches with a broken toe and Lewis Travis has expressed his disappointment for his midfield partner.

Evans battled back from a fractured skull to return for Rovers’ win over Bristol City last month where he put in a man-of-the-match display in the 3-1 win.

However, scans revealed the Northern Ireland international had suffered more injury heartache in the closing stages of that match.

A broken toe has ruled the 29-year-old out of Rovers’ next six matches, and likely their final two as well.

Evans had built up with an excellent understanding with Travis in the middle of the Rovers midfield, and the 22-year-old said: “It’s gutting, two horrible injuries that you can’t rush back from.

“When you saw he’d done that with his fractured skull he came back and beat his fitness test by a long way.

“That shows how hard he’d been working and that’s a credit to him. It was gutting for him.”

Travis has been playing through the pain barrier in recent weeks after missing the Barnsley game with a knee problem.

And while he’s battled through, he admits that playing behind closed doors has been an unusual experience.

“I like playing every few games, I pride myself on being able to play three games in a week.

“Without the supporters, particularly at Ewood, it’s not so great playing at an empty stadium, it feels like an Under-23s game.

“The supporters can give you that lift.”
