PETER Reid today wished Owen Coyle all the best after losing out to the St Johnstone boss in the race to become Burnley's new manager.
Reid held talks with the Clarets yesterday and looked to be a strong favourite to succeed Steve Cotterill in the Turf Moor hot-seat.
However, the former Sunderland and Coventry boss told the Lancashire Telegraph this morning that he received a call from the club informing him that they intended to appoint Coyle instead.
"All I want to say is I wish Owen Coyle all the best at Turf Moor," said 51-year-old Reid.
"Burnley are a great Lancashire club with a strong tradition, and I'm sure he will do well there."
