OWEN Coyle is expected to be named Burnley's manager this afternoon.
The Clarets will approach Scottish First Division side St Johnstone today with a view to confirming 41-year-old Coyle as the man who will replace Steve Cotterill at Turf Moor.
Burnley operations director Brendan Flood and chairman Barry Kilby spoke with both Coyle and Peter Reid yesterday.
But the Lancashire Telegraph understands the former Bolton striker has won the race after impressing in an interview last night.
The club is due to release a statement on Coyle's appointment this afternoon.
Burnley are expected to contact St Johnstone today to sort out a compensation package for Coyle.
It is thought the Clarets will have to pay a figure in the region of £150,000 to the Scottish First Division side to get their number one target.
