NELSON manager Denny Khan included four new faces in his side at Congleton and was unlucky to come away without a point.
The home side took the lead after 16 minutes when Matt Hadrell's header came back off the bar and Andy Hurst headed home the rebound.
But Nelson drew level five minutes later when Ed O'Neil scored from 20 yards.
And the Blues almost took the lead after 50 minutes when Carl Turner struck the post.
Five minutes later, Lee Barrett was denied a penalty when he appeared to be tripped by the keeper.
But the game swung Congleton's way on the hour when a low cross was driven hard into the Nelson area and Darren Wright turned the ball into his own net.
And three minutes later Andy Hurst slotted in his side's third goal after Jordan Johnson had opened up the Blues defence.
