THERE'S a lot of hype right now about who's going to take over from Steve Cotterill.
Well I'm a loyal person and I wouldn't mind Steve Davis getting the Burnley job one little bit especially given the other names that have been touted around.
It seems to me that all the other managers have been unsuccessful at previous clubs, unless the Burnley directors have got somebody else up their sleeve.
Every manager has got to start somewhere, Steve is 40-years-old, has a good knowledge of the game and, most importantly, is passionate about the Clarets.
I'm sure he would give 100 per cent to the club, he lives in the town and has the club at heart.
Inexperience has been mentioned, but I don't think that would be a problem when it comes to dealing with the players on the training ground.
He may lack a little bit of experience when it comes to wheeling and dealing in the transfer market.
He might not be able to pick up the phone and negotiate a deal with the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, so someone should maybe be brought in to help him in that respect.
But I'd take passion over experience any day and I think the supporters would as well.
I've seen one or two of the reports in the paper and it looks like he also has the backing of the players.
Andy Gray has come out and said he's the man for the job so that's a huge bonus.
I know Mike Newell, Graeme Souness and Simon Grayson have been mentioned, but I would write them off straight away because of their connections with Blackburn.
I think supporters would back them if the team was doing well, but as soon as results started going against us, then I think they would become easy targets.
Whoever it is has to be appointed sooner rather than later, so they have time to work with the squad before the next home game.
For the moment though, I'm concentrating on the big match tomorrow, and I think Scotland have a good chance of beating Italy.
It'll be a hard game, but with the Hampden roar behind them I think they can do it.
Nobody gave us any chance at the start of this group, but we've proved we're a good team beating France home and away.
I'll be cheering them on with a pint in my hand!
