Tosin Adarabioyo is hoping to put a slow start to his Rovers career behind him as he eyes an extended run in the side.
The Manchester City loanee has been dogged by niggling injuries that has restricted him to just two starts and a substitute appearance against QPR last time out.
That came after Darragh Lenihan limped off, and with the Irishman set to be out for up to eight weeks, Adarabioyo looks set to be the man to profit from the 25-year-old’s misfortune.
With Rovers having not in their last three matches, Adarabioyo is hoping a lunchtime game with Huddersfield Town can be the spark they have been looking for as they look to regain their place in the top half.
“It’s been a slow start, I’ve had a couple of injuries since I’ve been here but I’m hoping to get going now,” the 21-year-old said.
“Unfortunately a couple of defenders have got injured, but now is my time. I’ve come here to play as many games as I can
“It’s tough, injuries are always tough for footballers to deal with, but you have to keep going.
“It’s been an up and down start for the team as well but I feel now is the time to get going and push on.”
With Greg Cunningham out for the remainder of the season, Rovers are likely to field the same back four they did at Fulham in the second game, with Adarabioyo partnering Derrick Williams at centre half.
Williams was only back at Brockhall on Thursday, after his international commitments with Republic of Ireland during the break, but Adarabioyo says that hasn’t stopped Rovers from working on their defensive shape.
He added: “It’s been a difficult few weeks, obviously we’ve time to train and work on things we need to improve on and hopefully we can show that.
“As a whole defensive unit there are things we can learn and work on. We’re all good defenders, it’s just that bit of concentration we need.
“Del is a smart lad and he get up to speed very quickly.”
Tony Mowbray will want his side to respond to the setback at QPR where they shipped four goals for the first time this season.
“It was a quiet dressing room, everyone was annoyed, it was a game that everyone felt we should be winning if we’re looking to get in to those play-off spots,” Adarabioyo revealed.
“Everyone knows what the last few results have been, but we can’t do anything about them now, we have to just look forward.”
