TEN-MAN Chorley’s tough start to life in the National League continued with a 5-1 defeat at Notts County.
The Magpies are bottom of the table having picked up four points from their opening seven games.
After losing 6-1 to Solihull Moors and 4-1 to Maidenhead United this season this was another tough day for Jamie Vermiglio’s side as they continue their search for a first win.
Chorley actually went in front at Meadow Lane, Lewis Baines heading home nine minutes in.
Nathan Tyson equalised for the hosts on the half hour before Neil Ardley’s side took command with two goals in four minutes after half-time through Enzio Boldewijn and Kristian Dennis.
Wes Thomas then scored twice in six minutes midway through the second half with Josh O’Keefe sent off late on.
In the BetVictor North West Division, Colne were 2-0 winners in the derby clash at Clitheroe.
Max Hazeldine scored a minute into the second half with Aidan Chippendale doubling the advantage with 15 minutes to play.
Ramsbottom United continued their perfect start with a 1-0 victory at home to Trafford, Tom Kennedy getting the only goal.
In the Hallmark Security League Premier Division, Barnoldswick were pegged back late on in their 2-2 draw with Squires Gates. Andrew Hill and Richard Seear had Barlick two goals up 11 minutes in but Dean Ing reduced the arrears 15 minutes from time with Ryan Charnley equalising in the third minute of stoppage time.
Padiham lost 2-0 at home to Irlam.
In the First Division North, Joel Gnabouyou scored a 94th minute winner to hand Bacup Borough a remarkable 4-3 victory at Chadderton.
The visitors had been 3-1 up after 88 minutes before the Oldham side scored twice to seemingly seal a point, only for Gnabouyou to pop up.
AFC Darwen lost 4-1 at Daisy Hill with Corey Harrison scoring a late consolation. Jack Coop got both goals as Nelson won 2-0 at home to Cleator Moor Celtic.
