BURNLEY'S operational director Brendan Flood has insisted he will leave no stone unturned in his quest to boost matchday attendances at Turf Moor.
The Rossendale-born businessman, who joined the Clarets board in December last year, has trialled a number of pre-match entertainment initiatives to transform Saturday afternoons into a day out, including dancers and singers.
The club came under fire from many supporters after former X Factor' contestant Chico was booked to sing before kick-off and during the half-time break of the home game against Crystal Palace at the end of last month.
But while Flood said he had taken some of the criticism on board, he stressed the reaction would not deter him from experimenting to try to find the most popular artists.
"It's been interesting to experiment with some of the pre-match entertainment and we will continue to try new ideas to tempt more people to spend their Saturday afternoons watching Burnley," said Flood, who, so far this season, has brought in a variety of dancers, the heliosphere, football freestyler Daniel Magness, live bands outside the ground, stilt walkers, while a big screen is expected to be erected in the David Fishwick (Cricket Field) Stand by the end of the month.
The televised home game against Southampton has also been dubbed Community Day, which will involve local youngsters taking to the pitch to play in five-a-side games and compete in a crossbar challenge.
Some fans had reacted angrily to Chico's appearance at Turf Moor, with a handful of ticket holders even threatening not to attend the game.
But Flood stressed that at this stage of the season, it was a case of trial and error in the search for suitable matchday entertainment.
"We will research it towards Christmas and decide which entertainment has been the most successful and get a better view of the fans as to what they prefer," he said.
"I think the introduction of the new scoreboard will be a massive improvement for the matchday experience at Turf Moor, and reperesents a very visual example of how we are improving as a club and I hope fans enjoy the fact that we are improving."
