BLACKBURN Rovers midfielder Steven Reid is ready to end his 14-month injury nightmare.
The 26-year-old has been plagued by problems since August last year, when he suffered cruciate knee ligament damage in a freak training ground accident, just when he was preparing to make his comeback from a back injury that had kept him out for the first half of last season.
A further setback occured in pre-season when he picked up a hamstring strain.
But, having now been given a clean bill of health, Republic of Ireland international Reid is set to put all that frustration behind him on Monday, when he is expected to play his first game as Rovers reserves entertain Sunderland's second string.
"Steven's doing okay. He's been working with the guys that were left behind this week and we're going to try to get some games arranged for him," said manager Mark Hughes.
"Hopefully he'll take part in the reserve game on Monday and we'll try to get some games arranged for him during the latter part of next week and try to bring him.
"But he's fit and well and just needs games now."
