Manager Terry Fildes has apologised to Nelson's fans following his side's 4-1 home thumping at the hands of Bacup in the Lancashire County FA Co-Operative Challenge Cup on Wednesday night.
Nelson must now get their act together as they host Abbey Hey tomorrow.
"It was embarrasing against Bacup," said Fildes.
"I was totally destroyed and upset after the game. I really felt for our supporters I and would like to apologise to them.
"The next two games are important. We are playing Abbey Hey and Bacup again.
"We have got to win both otherwise we could be bottom of the league, and I don't want to be running a side that are bottom.
"The players have got to prove to me that they want to play for Nelson."
