Rovers have suspended an individual from attending matches at Ewood Park after defender Derrick Williams was subjected to racial abuse on social media.
The club have moved to remind supporters they will operate a no tolerance policy to discriminatory language after this incident.
Police action has been taken against the individual who Rovers have now suspended attending home matches, pending the completion of the legal process.
Williams signed for Rovers in 2016 from Bristol City and started his 100th league game for the club in the midweek win over Wigan.
A club spokesman said: “Rovers wish to remind supporters that the club will not tolerate discriminatory language after Derrick Williams was subjected to racist abuse on social media.
“The individual has been dealt with by the police and suspended from Ewood Park pending the completion of the legal process.”
Astatement from Kick It Out read: "We are pleased that the club and the police have taken swift action and renew our calls for social media companies to also act against people who use their platforms to abuse players."
