SUNDAY was a disappointing loss for us and I have to say I am sick of losing to Solihull!
I don’t think I have beaten them since I was at Blackburn and they have become a bit of a bogey team for us.
It was a close game and could have gone either way but in the end we came out on the wrong side of a 5-4 loss.
But we played pretty well and you can see how far we have improved in the past few weeks. We are playing at a much higher level now.
One thing that was great to see was the crowd.
It was packed in the arena and the club have been doing a lot of work in the community to try and encourage more people to come down and support us.
We have been going into schools with ticket offers and even if 10 people from five schools decide to come back then that is 50 more people than we were getting.
Watching the ice hockey can be a real family day out and a lot of people enjoy it.
The extra numbers really added to the atmosphere and it really lifted the players.
It was a shame we couldn’t get the win for them but hopefully there will be another big crowd for our next home game.
We also lost on Saturday to Sheffield Steeldogs. In the end it was 7-1 but we travelled with a few players unavailable and given the team we put out I think we did okay.
We knew it was going to be a tough ask but we competed well and kept going.
We have two games in the cup this weekend.
We can’t qualify from the group but it is a chance for us to get back to winning ways and also ensure that those players suffering with knocks can recover for the next league game.
