Rovers Ladies host Nottingham Forest Ladies on Sunday (2pm), looking to make it eight league wins from eight games.
The Blues are one of three clubs in the country to still maintain a 100 per cent start to the season while they are also the top scoring team, having found the net 37 times in their seven FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division matches.
Head coach Amanda Goodwin was full of praise for the strike partnership of Natasha Flint and Saffron Jordan, who scored five goals between them last weekend in the win over Stoke City.
“I’d be frightened to play against those two,” said Goodwin.
“They are bagging goals and really working hard.”
Gemma Donnelly’s side come into the game off the back of a 6-1 victory over Stoke City Ladies.
They sit top of the table on goal difference, with 21 points from seven games, but have played two fewer matches than closest challengers Sunderland.
“I’m glad to have earned a terrific result against a team we consider a threat,” manager Donnelly said.
“I think it shows how we have strengthened over the summer and how hard everyone is working to do as well as we can in this league.
“I can’t highlight anyone from last week as everyone played so well. Saffron Jordan got another hat-trick - but all of the players were outstanding.
“The result was a hard fought one despite what the scoreline suggests and I know the girls will be thrilled to have earned another three points. But that was just another game - now we focus on this week.”
And she is aware of the problems that Graham Abercrombie’s team will pose, adding: “A few seasons back Forest nullified our threats to get a draw which removed us from the title contention.
“That is forgotten but not forgiven.
“The girls should be focused and well drilled, thanks to head coach Amanda Goodwin, on how we get another win.
“We take each game as it comes. As cliché as it is, that’s how we operate and we never afford ourselves the luxury of thinking beyond this.
“Going under the radar is how we try and keep all of us in check.”
Rovers are boosted by the return of forward Bethany Donoghue.
