CHORLEY manager Jamie Vermiglio is keen to see his side bounce back quickly after they suffered a second straight National League North defeat.

The Magpies were beaten 3-0 at Stockport County on Tuesday night with Matty Warburton hitting a hat-trick in the final 16 minutes.

That followed a 1-0 reverse at Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday which ended Chorley’s unbeaten start to the season, although Vermiglio’s men remain top of the table ahead of a home game with Spennymoor this weekend.

“There’s a lot of heads down but the message for Saturday is that we bounce back quickly,” said the Chorley chief.

“We’ll be training to prepare for Spennymoor who have had a fantastic result (on Tuesday) and are the form side in the league.

“We’ve been away from home for two games, going to two difficult places so it’ll be good to be back at Victory Park and hopefully we can get a positive result.”

Vermiglio felt the turning point in midweek was when Josh Wilson saw his effort ruled out for offside.

“It was a very disappointing result, we played Bradford on Saturday and were nowhere near our best. At Stockport, again we were nowhere near our best,” he added. “We’ve not given a good account of ourselves, that’s not the Chorley team that’s got us where we are and the lads know that.”

He added: “The second half I thought we started quite brightly, we got the goal that was ruled out for offside.

“From the position I’m in it’s very difficult to say but a lot of people were saying it was on. That was a turning point.”

Elsewhere, in the second round of the Integro Cup Colne were beaten 3-1 at Bamber Bridge while Clitheroe lost 5-4 to Trafford on penalties after a 0-0 draw.
