BLACKBURN have been dealt their third defeat of the season after losing 38-17 away at fourth place Stockport.
This was their second defeat in as many games in the North One West, a run which has seen them slip down to sixth place.
All of the early pressure was inside the Blackburn 22 as the hosts were awarded a penalty on the five minute mark.
A Stockport player required an ambulance due to a neck injury so the game was moved to another pitch.
The penalty was converted after the restart. Within a few minutes, the hosts had their first try.
Poor tackling from Dino Radice’s side made it easy for Stockport, who converted to make the match 10-0.
Blackburn were able to make a dent in the scoreline as Leon Fifield scored out wide. He was then unable to convert.
Inside 25 minutes, more poor tackling from Blackburn gave Stockport another try. The conversion was then missed.
On the half hour Stockport added another seven points to their score as their forwards pushed the Blackburn defence back until a try was inevitable.
A Blackburn knock on in the dying stages of the half gave Stockport a scrum, a penalty was then awarded which was then kicked to make it 25-5 going in to the break.
Blackburn’s chance of a second half revival was soon ended as Stockport scored another try after just five minutes.
Stockport’s conversion was kicked which gave the hosts a 27 point lead.
The Blackburn replacements helped spark them in to life as Wilf Whittle scored their second try of the game after good play from Corey Logan set Fifield free.
Fifield’s conversion was then missed.
After a penalty was kicked for Stockport, Fifield was able to score his second try of the game, but missed his attempt at the conversion.
Blackburn pushed for a try and the bonus point with the last play of the game but the ball was knocked on over the line, summing up Blackburn’s day.
Dino Radice’s men need to find some form for the their next game as they look top avoid three defeats in a row.
