ROSSENDALE made it a second win against top four opponents as they overcame Blaydon 27-19 as they move to seventh in the North Premier.

Marl Pits is quickly developing a reputation for being a ground that visiting clubs don't relish playing at.

The North East outfit opened the scoring after a try from Jack Appleton.

The home side replied quickly as a scrum resulted Harrison Moulding breaking free to send the supporting Phil Mills over the try line to bring the game level at 5-5.

Blaydon soon got on the front foot, tries for Keith Laughlin and Jack Davidson put Rossendale 19-5 behind as Jamie Guy converted from both tries.

Rossendale were able to pull some points back as a maul allowed Jake Foster to break clear before he slipped in Moulding for the try. Louis Allen added the conversion points.

Allen was then involved in the play as he broke from half way. After some slick passing between Jack Wilkinson and Moulding, Mills was there to put down his second try.

Once again, Allen kicked home the extra points.

Just before the half time whistle, Jack Ward beat three tacklers as he charged down the touchline. Rossendale went in 24-19 up at the break.

As the second half began, Blaydon threw everything at the Lancashire side strong strong in defence and held their lead.

A penalty from Allen was the only score of the half sealed the win and lost Blaydon their losing penalty point.

That win gives Rossendale three wins in five games as they travel to Wilmslow on Saturday.
