West Brom striker Jay Rodriguez has wished David Raya a speedy recovery after the Rovers goalkeeper was taken to hospital following a collision in the 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns.
Raya was stretchered off with what boss Tony Mowbray described as a ‘severe facial injury’.
Rodriguez was quick to apologise for the injury to Raya caused as the two collided after the ‘keeper came sliding off his line to gather a throughball.
Rovers were forced to play the closing stages with Richie Smallwood in goal as they held on for a point given to him by Harrison Reed’s second half equaliser.
Mowbray revealed Burnley-born Rodriguez had been to check on Raya’s welfare after the match, and in an interview with the BBC post-match, wished the Spaniard a swift recovery.
"It was one of those," Rodriguez said.
"It's not nice to see. I was chasing the ball, I tried to get out of the way but I've caught him with the top of my foot.
"I've been told he's gone to hospital and I'm gutted about that. I hope he makes a speedy recovery and is back on the pitch soon.
"But credit to the keeper (Smallwood) that went in. He made a few good saves and they had a few scrambled off the line, so credit to them for digging in."
