STEVE Duncombe is looking forward to a 'feisty and gritty' affair against Solihull Barons tomorrow as Blackburn Hawks aim to get one over their bogey team.
The Hawks lost ever single encounter against the Midlands outfit last season but coach Duncombe is confident his resurgent side can end that unwanted record and make it three wins on the spin in the in the NIHL Moralee Conference.
"Everyone has a bogey and Solihull seem to be ours," said Duncombe. "To be honest, I don't know how may times we played them last season but whether it was friendlies, in the league or cup, we lost the lot of them.
"So now would be a good time to get one over them."
With several ex-Hawks players on the roster at Solihull - including the Brittle brothers, Adam, Luke and Daniel - Duncombe said it adds extra spice to the occasion. Just as he likes it.
"It will be a feisty and gritty affair and that is just how I like it," said Duncombe. "I like players with passion and personally, these are the sort of games that suit me.
"Quite a few of their players used to play for the Hawks and they always like to raise their game against us so we have to make sure we are ready for them."
While the Hawks were beaten by Telford Tigers in the NIHL North Cup on Saturday, they have won their last two outings in the league against Sutton Sting and Whitley Warriors.
