OSWALDTWISTLE Immanuel have been crowned Ribblesdale League champions after a double winning weekend.
Ossie followed up Saturday’s victory at Baxenden with a convincing win over Euxton yesterday to get the win they needed to clinch the title and deny holders Settle or Read who both faced each other on Saturday.
After a hard fought campaign, the all-important victory was a straight forward one as they bowled Euxton out for just 44 with Andreas Sudnik and Brett Peltzer claiming five wickets each.
As expected, Ossie wasted little time in reaching their target to be crowned champions with Dan Metcalfe hitting the winning runs.
On Saturday, there were made to work a little harder at Baxenden.
The home side batted first at were bowled out for 105 with Sudnik enjoying another ‘five for’ taking 5-41.
Opener Jack Harrison, with 58 not out, together with sub pro Saurabh Bandekar (36 no) saw Oswaldtwistle home by eight wickets to condemn Baxenden to relegation.
Read took on Settle on Saturday knowing the winners would be the only side that could stop Ossie Immanuel.
And it was Read who came out on top with a convincing nine wicket victory.
Settle batted first and, despite 35 from William Davidson and 27 from John Davidson, were dismissed for 136 with Bailey Richards and Andrew Rushton taking three wickets each.
An opening partnership of 114 between William Wrathall (56) and Michael Whalley (55 not out) sealed victory for Read with over 20 overs to spare.
Read cemented runners-up spot with victory over Feniscowles yesterday thanks to a brilliant unbeaten knock of 251 from Matthew Walker.
Walker hit 30 fours and 11 sixes as he faced just 141 balls in an incredible innings as Read closed on 375-5.
In reply, Feniscowles scored 112-9.
Salesbury secured promotion to Section A after beating Whalley.
Batting first, Salesbury scored 150 with Hashen Ramanayake top scoring with 57. Joel Blain (4-43) and Sam Sweeney (3-56) where the pick of the Whalley bowlers.
In reply, Whalley were bowled out for 141 with Ramanayake completing an excellent all round performance taking 4-42.
On Sunday, Whalley bounced back to beat Brinscall by 50 runs. Declan Bailey scored an unbeaten 118 in Whalley’s 209-5 total.
Jack Edgar then took 5-35 as Brinscall were dismissed for 159.
Salesbury made it a winning weekend as Sam Bristol took 6-49 in the win at Barnoldswick.
The home side were bowled out for 134 then Ramanayake top scored with 51 in Salesbury’s successful reply.
It was a mixed weekend for Barnoldswick who had beaten Padiham by seven wickets the previous day.
Padiham scored 159-9 but Adil Khan (37), N Ahmed (33) and then an unbeaten partnership of 65 between Asad Latif and Matt Haynes saw Barnoldswick home.
On Sunday, Padiham (159 all out) beat Cherry Tree (138 all out). It was a bad weekend for the Blackburn who also lost to Earby on Saturday - Jake Hargreaves’ six wicket haul the highlight of the match.
Ribblesdale Wanderers had a mixed weekend, beaten by Brinscall on Saturday but bouncing back to defeat Baxenden yesterday.
On Saturday, Euxton bowled Feniscowles out for 78 then knocked off the required runs with seven wickets and 25 overs to spare, sub pro Chris Schofield made 30.
